Nicolas Cage is asking for his fans’ help in recovering a collection of rare comic books that were stolen from him decades ago. The Academy Award-winning actor can soon be seen in The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent, releasing on April 22. The meta-action-comedy will see Cage playing an actor named Nick Cage who becomes embroiled in a plot involving international crime and the CIA.
In early 2000, Cage's house was robbed of several extremely valuable comic books from his personal collection. Among the stolen books was a copy of Action Comics #1 (the first appearance of Superman) andDetective Comics #27 (Batman's debut issue). Following years of investigations, Cage would eventually be reunited with his copy of Action Comics #1 in 2011, though he sold it at auction shortly afterward. But still, to this day, many of the other pilfered books have yet to be recovered.
