Mushu, a character long missing from , has finally arrived to the popular card game with a new card illustrated by 's original illustrator. Spoiler season has started for the newest set due for release next month. The new set is poised to be one of the game's biggest yet, with several new card mechanics and abilities. The most notable of these new abilities is dual-ink cards, which can only be used in decks consisting of both ink types that appear on the card. In exchange, these cards often have abilities tied to both ink types.
Today, officially revealed the first-ever Mushu card, which will appear in. The new card, Mushu, Majestic Dragon, provides two major buffs to other characters in play. Any card that challenges an opponent's card during the player's turn gains Resist +2 (thus reducing the amount of damage they take) and any time one of the player's characters banishes another character during a turn, the player gains 2 lore. What's more — Mushu's card is illustrated by Tom Bancroft, a former Disney illustrator who also created Mushu and was the character's supervising animator during production.
While characters from have appeared in various sets, this marks the first time that Mushu has appeared in the game. The timing is likely due to having a «pet» theme, although Mushu would probably be opposed to being called anyone's pet. The card is also incredibly viable, as it rewards players for banishing characters with lore. As several other Ruby or Steel cards also provide lore for either challenging or banishing, Mushu seems to be a very powerful card for Ruby/Steel decks.
