WhatsApp is testing a new Facebook-like cover photo feature for business accounts on android. The Meta-owned messaging app is reportedly rolling out the new cover photo feature to WhatsApp Business beta users. While this feature is already available on WhatsApp for iOS, the same was also spotted during the development of WhatsApp Desktop beta. And now it is likely to arrive on android as well.
As reported by WABetaInfo, the new Cover Photo feature is available on the latest WhatsApp Business beta (version 2.22.14.6) update for Android. The feature lets WhatsApp business users add an additional cover image to their profiles, similar to the Facebook or Twitter profile. The cover image will appear as a wide image behind the profile picture. It will add a visual flair to business profiles on WhatsApp. Also Read: WhatsApp just got a gigantic update; get it this way
The portal has even shared the preview of how the new Cover Photo feature looks. As for the availability of the new feature, it is currently rolling out to certain business accounts, only. It is expected to be available for all in the coming weeks. Once it is rolled out for all, users will easily understand if the feature is available for their WhatsApp account or not. A new banner will show up at the top of the chat list that invites the business to set up a cover photo. Users can set up the cover photo by opening their business profile by going to WhatsApp Settings > Profile. One can also see the cover photo set by other business users by opening their profile.
