For those who have experienced the open landscape of Facepunch Studios' Rust, there is nothing more punishing than taking on the environment, wild beasts and trigger-happy community when it comes to online multiplayer. As one of the most brutal survival games out there, its fun gameplay elements and lush visuals are matched only by its difficulty. As unforgiving as it is, it's still a popular game, with the developer continuing to improve the formula and keep things ticking over with the announcement of the latest patch recently being announced.
On the official Rust Twitter account, the game is due to have its monthly wipe with some additional content being implemented. According to the post, the new update should be rolling out today at 19:00 BST, 18:00 UTC and 14:00 EST and will include some new additions to the sprawling open world, such as an above railway network, ziplines, some new achievements, some improvements to the lighting, as well as more.

A Rust railway system update was hinted at a few months ago, along with the possibility of pets being added, so this lines up with past speculations. However, according to a report from PCGamesN, this particular patch will make it more of a «proof of concept» for the time being. Once this update goes live, the railway system will become part of the landscape, but will have «no official gameplay element» this time round. That does suggest that players will be able to ride along the rails at some point, just probably not for the April update.
