Black Matter has released a new update for Hell Let Loose, bringing the bridge at Remagen, new night map variants, commander abilities, and gadgets to the WW2 shooter. Hell Let Loose was released in early access in 2019, before launching fully in 2021. Initially only on PC, the game was ported to the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S in 2021, with updates coming to both the PC and console versions of the game in the months since.
Hell Let Loose is an immersive WW2 shooter that diverges from other franchises in the first-person shooter genre. Rather than lean into customization or arcadey-style gameplay, Black Matter's title focuses on historical authenticity and team-based gameplay, locking players into set roles in different squads varying between infantry, armor, and reconnaissance. One bullet is also enough to kill. Said approach makes Hell Let Loose's multiplayer more terrifying than Battlefield or Call of Duty, with players having to depend on one another to identify enemies and achieve in-game objectives. Although the game focused on D-Day engagements between the U.S. Army and German Wehrmacht to begin with, Black Matter introduced an Eastern Front update in 2021 that introduced the Red Army of the Soviet Union, as well as the battles of Stalingrad and Kursk. More updates are also due in 2022, with the British and Commonwealth forces the next faction on the way.
