Samsung has announced a new color variant for its Galaxy S22 smartphone called Bora Purple, and users who want to pick up the phone in the new paint job won't have to wait for long. The word «Bora» means purple in Korean, so the name Bora Purple literally translates to 'Purple Purple.'
It's quite common for phone companies to announce a new color for their flagship smartphones once they reach mid-cycle. This tradition has been adopted not only by Samsung but also by Apple. In March 2022, Apple announced a new Alpine Green colorway for the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Pro. The new color was announced six months after the phone was launched. The Galaxy S22's new color also arrives just in time for its six-month anniversary.

Samsung has revealed that the new Bora Purple colorway will be available for purchase starting August 10, the same date it has scheduled the launch of the Galaxy Z Flip 4 and Galaxy Z Fold 4 smartphones. While there is no mention of which partner stores will sell the new color, users should be able to buy it from Samsung's online store. Furthermore, Samsung has added a caveat that says “availability may vary by market.” This could mean that the new color might not be sold in every region where the Galaxy S22 is available.
The Galaxy S22 was launched in February 2022 in Phantom Black, Phantom White, Pink Gold, Green, Graphite, Sky Blue, Violet, and Cream, with the last four colors being exclusive to Samsung's online store.
