Netflix has released a teaser trailer for The Witcher Season 3, which will premiere this summer.
The trailer, which is viewable below, reveals that Season 3 will be made available on the streaming platform in two parts, with the first being released on June 29 and the second on July 27.
The show, which debuted in 2019 to positive reviews, is primarily based on Andrzej Sapkowski’s best-selling fantasy book series, although it does include elements from CD Projekt’s blockbuster RPG franchise.
Prior to Season 2’s release in 2021, Netflix and CD Projekt jointly held a WitcherCon digital convention featuring deep dives into the making of the show and the games, plus interactive panels with stars like Henry Cavill and game developers.
Cavill recently confirmed that he’s set to step down from his role as Geralt of Rivia following the end of Season 3. He’s being replaced by The Hunger Games star Liam Hemsworth.
Netlfix also released a four-part live action The Witcher prequel series last December, starring Michelle Yeoh, Sophia Brown and Laurence O’Fuarain.
On the Witcher game front, CD Projekt announced last October that it was working on a new trilogy of games as well as spin-offs.
The latter included a “full-fledged remake” of the original The Witcher, and Project Sirius, a new take on the series which has since gone back to the drawing board.
