Netflix is starting to test its mobile Fast Laughs feature on TVs.
Launched in March 2021 for iOS (and later Android) devices, Fast Laughs streams short clips from the platform's comedy catalog—usually about 30 seconds or longer—from films, series, and stand-up specials. If you see something you like, start streaming immediately, add the program to your list, or share extracts with good-humored family and friends. Otherwise, arrows on either side of the video let you move between vignettes.
The same now goes for select television viewers. Members of Netflix's test audience can open the new Fast Laughs function in the TV app to see full-screen clips of Army of the Dead, Big Mouth, Jerry Seinfeld's stand-up, and more, according to The Verge. This isn't just another Shuffle Play (which tailors suggestions to your taste), though. Fast Laughs is curated entirely by Netflix staff—so you could get bored before spotting something you recognize, or maybe you'll discover a new favorite show.
The streaming platform is slowly rolling out Fast Laughs to adult profiles in English-speaking countries including the US, Canada, UK, Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand. Netflix did not immediately respond to PCMag's request for comment. We'll just have to wait and see if this becomes an official feature of Netflix for anyone accessing the service through a TV.
