With filming on the final season of Strangers Things halted(Opens in a new window) due to the writers' strike, it may be awhile before Netflix serves up another hit of 80s nostalgia. Until then, however, several shows inspired by the Hawkins gang's favorite game—Dungeons & Dragons—are coming to a free, ad-supported streaming service near you.
Hasbro-owned Entertainment One (eOne) is launching a Dungeons & Dragons Adventures 24-hour streaming channel as early as this summer, according to Variety(Opens in a new window).
It will include a number of original, unscripted programs—including Encounter Party, Heroes' Feast, and something called Faster, Purple Worm! Kill! Kill!. Plus, fan can catch episodes of the 1980s Dungeons & Dragons animated series, as well as content from internet creators and influencers focused on live gameplay.
According to Variety, Encounter Party is based on the podcast(Opens in a new window) of the same name; Heroes' Feast is " part talk show, part cooking competition"; and Faster, Purple Worm! Kill! Kill! is an "improv comedy spin on classic Dungeons & Dragons gameplay" co-created by Matthew Lillard.
We don't know which service will pick up the Dungeons & Dragons Adventures channel. Some of our top-rated free streaming services include Tubi, Amazon Freevee, The Roku Channel, and Pluto TV. (The Roku Channel recently picked up a number of cancelled HBO shows.)
