MultiVersus Players Spot Rick in Lobbies Even Though He's Not in the Game Yet
MultiVersus is now available in open beta and developer Player First Games is already working on rolling out content for the live service fighting game. While MultiVersus is currently in what it's referring to as «Pre-Season,» Season 1 will be starting shortly on August 9. Not only will MultiVersus kick off its first full battle pass, but it will also get Morty as a playable character. Rick will follow later in the season. Some MultiVersus players appear to be getting a sneak peek, however, with Rick showing up in their lobbies.
As spotted by The Gamer, multiple MultiVersus players have now reported seeing Rick show up in their matchmaking lobbies recently. To frame the situation, MultiVersus has 2v2 multiplayer and between matches players wait in a lobby. In this lobby, players can see which character their teammate selected as the avatar is displayed on-screen. It's here where the Rick glitch is happening. Seemingly at random, players' teammates will look as if they selected Rick as their fighter. They haven't, but the menu still shows Rick.
MultiVersus Leak Reveals New Cosmetics Coming to the Game
This isn't altogether an unknown bug. It's a known issue that sometimes teammates will display as a character that they haven't selected. Harley Quinn is specifically shown often, even when she hasn't been picked. The reason why has never been confirmed, nor has the bug been fixed. It's possible that this is the same glitch, only now it's showing Rick instead. There is likely some sort of incorrect reference in the code that is displaying Rick's character information instead of the right pick.
