MultiVersus isn't yet playable for everyone, since it's still in limited early access, but this isn't stopping it from becoming the most popular fighting game on PC with thousands of players logging in.
In fact, MultiVersus is doing so well it's setting records for its genre on PC and its average player count is higher than every other major fighter on Steam combined (thanks Event Hubs).

According to Steam Charts, which analyses Steam's concurrent players, the free-to-play fighter has an average of 38,007 online players, and this reached 61,964 players at its peak so far. Thanks to calculations by Event Hubs, this puts the Player First Games-developed and Warner Bros Interactive Entertainment-published fighter game above the combined total player counts of the next 13 most popular fighting games still being supported on PC.
These titles include Brawlhalla, Tekken 7, DNF Duel, Street Fighter 5, Mortal Kombat 11, Guilty Gear Strive, King of Fighters 15, Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl, among others. Looking at this list, these are clearly premier fighting games and yet MultiVersus has them all beat. The combined total number of online players for all 13 games on PC over the past month is 28,902, which is a good deal lower than MultiVersus' 38,007.
The next three most popular fighting titles on PC are Brawlhalla (12,426 30-day average Steam players); Tekken 7 (4,436); and DNF Duel (2,766). Meanwhile it's nearest rival for the all-time peak is Dragon Ball FighterZ with 44,234 players, and Brawlhalla with 34,169, which means MultiVersus takes the record for setting the highest all-time peak with 61,964 for a PC
