Ahead of the explosive finale of Apple TV+’s Tehran season 2, we spoke to the show’s creator and writer, Moshe Zonder, who gives insight into the show’s sophomore year.
Tehran's second season has seen many twist and turn that keep viewers wanting more after every episode. Glenn Close was added to the show this season playing Mossad agent Marjan Montazemi, and Moshe Zonder dished on what the distinguished actress brought to Tehran this season.

Screen Rant: Amazing job on this season. I'm an absolute fan of this show. This season, you guys have added the iconic Glenn Close. What does she bring to the role of Marjan, and what can you tell me about her character?
Moshe Zonder: Marjan Montazemi was born in London as Marian Moore, a protestant Christian and daughter of English aristocrats. When she was a student in the late 70s, she met a young Iranian Shiite Muslim student and they fell in love. With her rebellious nature, Marjan followed her heart. Several months after the Islamic revolution, when Ayatollah Khomeini returned to Tehran from exile in Paris and replaced the Shah — a tyrant who was also a good friend of Israel — she converted to Shia Islam. This may be hard to imagine today, but in the early days of the revolution, many secular Iranians placed their hopes in it, because it replaced the corrupt Shah.
