The 74th Emmy Awards nominations have been announced, with Stranger Things, Better Call Saul, and Ted Lasso all getting recognition. The 2022 Emmy ceremony will finally be an in-person event, following a two-year break thanks to COVID. No hosts have been announced for the evening as of this writing, but producers reportedly asked Chris Rock and Dwayne Johnson to host, as well as Jimmy Fallon and Seth Meyers, but none of those parties was interested in the job.
The 73rd Primetime Emmy Awards was an entirely virtual event, losing some of the glamour of previous years. Still, given the global pandemic at the time, the producers did their best to put on an entertaining show. The Queen's Gambit andThe Crown took home 11 wins each that evening, giving Netflix its first Emmy awards win.Ted Lasso won for Outstanding Comedy Series, and so did its star, Jason Sudeikis, for Lead Actor in a Comedy Series. The brilliant and criminally underrated HBO Max comedy Hacks brought home some sold thanks to Jean Smart's stunning performance as Deborah Vance, which got her the win for Lead Actress in a Comedy Series. One year later, the nominations for the 74th Emmy Awards see some returning favorites and some new players to the game.

Smoove and Melissa Fumero, the 74th Emmy Awards nominations see Abbott Elementary and Only Murders In The Building added to the Comedy Series category alongside Barry, Curb Your Enthusiasm, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, and What We Do in the Shadows.
