Warner Bros. Games has dropped the live-action trailer for the next installment to NetherRealm Studios’ best-selling videogame franchise. The video serves as a homage to the iconic ’90s commercial “Mortal Monday,” featuring Guardians of the Galaxy star Dave Bautista, who can be seen amassing people from all walks of life and empowering them to unleash the fight within.
“I vividly remember the original Mortal Monday commercial, especially the iconic scream,” Bautista said in a statement. “That’s what started my journey as a fan of Mortal Kombat, which continues to this day 30 years later. I’m very thrilled and honored to be a part of the game’s legacy.”
