More footage from the upcoming The Last of Us remake has appeared online.
The cutscene, which is circulating on Twitter, (mirror via imgur) shows a pivotal scene in the middle of the game, which we won’t describe in detail due to spoilers.
It’s been speculated that the footage is from an early build of the game, as some visual elements, such as the lighting, is different from the officially released footage.
Leaks have plagued The Last of Us Part 1 since before the game was officially revealed.
The remake, which is priced at $69.99, offers what Sony calls “a total overhaul of the original experience, faithfully reproduced but incorporating modernized gameplay, improved controls and expanded accessibility options”.
Naughty Dog showed off the first official gameplay last month in the form of a 10-minute features and gameplay deep dive video.
“Leaks really suck,” Naughty Dog vice president Arne Meyersaid after the release of the official video. “Especially when we’re right on the cusp of an asset drop. It’s disheartening and frustrating to teams who have put their hearts making awesome things for our fans.”
Naughty Dog senior editor Samuel Prince echoed Meyer’s feelings about leaks. “They’re extremely hurtful to the devs who work tirelessly to bring you these wonderful games. Public-facing assets take a long time to create, revise, approve, localize, clear legal, ESRB, etc. Be kind!”
The game will release on September 2, and will later come to PC.
A Naughty Dog developer recently commented that it would be “very soon,” after the PS5 release.
