COD will still come to PlayStation for "several more years" after Microsoft Activision deal
Shooter giant Call of Duty will still be coming to PlayStation platforms for a few more years after Microsoft closes its acquisition of Activision Blizzard.
In a statement to The Verge, the head of Xbox Phil Spencer said that earlier this year, he had signed a new deal with Sony that ensured the blockbuster shooter would still be launching on its devices.
How long this will be the case is unsure, though Bloomberg reporting reckons that Call of Duty will be coming to PlayStation platforms "for at least the next two years" or the next three games in the series.
“In January, we provided a signed agreement to Sony to guarantee Call of Duty on PlayStation, with feature and content parity, for at least several more years beyond the current Sony contract, an offer that goes well beyond typical gaming industry agreements,” Spencer wrote.
This news comes as regulators dig into the deal to see whether it will harm competition within the industry. The CMA, the UK's watchdog, is currently approaching the second phase of an investigation into the matter.
