Marvel's Spider-Man 2 is the sequel to Insomniac's successful 2018 title about the web slinger. So far, Insomniac hasn't revealed a lot of information about the upcoming game, and besides a teaser fans saw during the September 2021 PlayStation Showcase, there hasn't been much in terms of big reveals.
So far, it is expected that plenty of iconic Spider-Man villains such as Venom will make appearances, and it seems that both Peter Parker and Miles Morales will be teaming up in Marvel's Spider-Man 2. With two Spider-Men being playable in the game, many have wondered whether this will lead to multiplayer being featured in the game. There has been a lot of speculation on this topic, especially after the PC release of Marvel's Spider-Man led fans to finding some unused assets for a multiplayer mode in the first game.

Now, a new job posting for a Lead Gameplay Engineer is causing fans to wonder again whether multiplayer will be a part of Marvel's Spider-Man 2. According to the experience section of the job posting, a candidate must have a familiarity with «great multiplayer features,» indicating that one of Insomniac's future titles will include the game mode in some form. However, Insomniac looking for someone with experience developing multiplayer titles does not provide hard evidence that Marvel's Spider-Man 2 will allow players to team up.
