Warning: Contains spoilers for Morbius!
A Morbius Easter egg may be more than just a reference, as it is actually setting up another Spider-Man villain for Kraven the Hunter. The film shows off several issues of the Daily Bugle newspaper, which hint at various characters who may one day show up in the comic book movie franchise known as Sony's Spider-Man Universe. However, this particular Morbius Easter egg gives some backstory on a character that has already been cast.
Morbius is the third movie installment in Sony's Spider-Man Universe, after Venom and Venom: Let There Be Carnage. It tells the origin story of Dr. Michael Morbius, who while attempting to cure a rare blood disease accidentally turns himself into a living vampire. Morbius also takes time to hint at other Spider-Man villains existing in Sony's shared universe, including Venom, Black Cat, and Rhino -- plus a cameo from the MCU's Vulture in the post-credits scenes.
