A new story has revealed the real reason Moon Knight always wears white. The traditional explanation for Moon Knight’s choice of apparel was to let bad guys know he is coming, but in the story “A Hard Day’s Knight,” appearing in Moon Knight: Black, White and Blood #2, readers learn there is a far more tragic reason he decks himself out in white. The issue is on sale now in print and digital.
Comic books built around a particular color scheme have gained traction at both DC and Marvel over the past several years. These books feature out-of-continuity stories, giving creators carte blanche to run wild with some of each publisher’s biggest characters; these anthologies also feature unique color schemes, usually built around a color associated with that character. Marvel has given the “black, white and red” treatment to some of their bloodiest characters, such as Deadpool, Wolverine, and Elektra.

Now, it is Moon Knight’s turn, and David Pepose, Leonardo Romero and Chris Sotomayor treat readers to a new vision of Moon Knight, offering a fresh take on his all-white costume. The story opens with Moon Knight, in his Mister Knight outfit, arriving at an all-night diner, battered and bloodied. The waitress treats it as business as usual, saying she has kept his booth open for him.
