Newly released concept art for the Disney+ show Moon Knight envisions an even scarier version of the show. The latest MCU Phase 4 series starred Oscar Issac as Marc Spector, an ex-Marine who lives with a complex psychological condition called dissociative identity disorder (DID) that causes him to have multiple, distinct identities. Due to this vulnerability, Khonshu, the Egyptian god of the Moon, uses his body as an avatar to carry out his desire for punishment against those the god believes deserving. The series received generally positive reviews for its performances by its cast as well as its striking visual representation of Ancient Egyptian mythology.
Although only six episodes, Moon Knight featured visceral, and often times scary, realizations of a variety of Ancient Egyptian gods and imagery. Khonshu was visualized as a lanky giant, wrapped in frayed white cloth, with a large raptor skull as its head. Marc/Steven Grant and Layla El-Faouly (May Calamawy) faced off against a resurrected mummy of an Ancient Egyptian priest. Finally, the Egyptian god Ammit, the Devourer of Souls, revealed herself as a Kaiju-sized woman with head of a crocodile.
