Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak released its first major update, full of surprises, new missions, and challenges. In a game as difficult as this, you can always find new enemies to face in battle, and as you hone your hunting abilities, the latest update introduces four new monsters to the roster.

One of the four monsters introduced in this update is Gold Rathian, making a comeback after its last appearance in Monster Hunter Iceborne. This rare variant of Rathian displays acrobatic and swift moves, some of them even superior to the ones Rathian has, sporting a gold coating and breathing high-temperature flames, ready to annihilate you. Here's everything you need to know.
Surprisingly, Gold Rathian is weaker against Shooting Damage, something fairly uncommon, but convenient given how hard her close-range movements hit. That being said, the damage difference compared to Slash and Bludgeoning weapons is not that dramatic, and given how fast she moves you may have a better time with blademaster weapons than trying to aim your shots at her. On the elemental side, she's weak to Water and Thunder, particularly to the latter, so weapons like the Zinogre or Almudron lines may be convenient, but don't get your hopes up for status builds, since she's resistant to both Blast, Stun, and Poison.
Given that Golden Rathian is weak to Shooting and Thunder Damage, you have a massively effective tool in the Oppressor's Rift, the Zinogre's Light Bowgun, that allows you to use Thunder Piercing Bullets, which can be immensely useful against this particular monster.
