Monster Hunter Rise has been a resounding success for Capcom, with total copies shipped reaching over eight million since the Nintendo Switch game launched around this time last year, as well as the PC version which debuted a couple of months ago, the latest Monster Hunter entry is the sixth mainline installment in the series.
Capcom has confirmed the release date for the upcoming expansion, Sunbreak, which promises a "massive" amount of new content. A new trailer dropped too showing off the challenging monsters hunters will be facing off, glimpses of Sunbreak's story, as well as the Elgado Outpost hub and brand-new abilities.

Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak finds players meeting new characters such as the commander of the Knights of the Royal Order Admiral Galleus, scientists, blacksmiths, merchants, and quest givers as they face three powerful new creatures known as the Three Lords. These are the now unveiled Garangolm, the Fanged Lunagaron, and the Elder Dragon Malzeno.
"Researching the behaviour of the Three Lords will take hunters across the Kingdom to exciting new locales, including the newly-unveiled Citadel," the game's description reads. Sunbreak should hopefully satisfy Monster Hunter Rise players with an added Master Rank quest difficulty and introduces mechanics such as the "powerful new Wirebug techniques".
Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak will be available as physical or digital versions for Nintendo Switch, just make sure to select 'Monster Hunter Rise' + 'Rise' when ordering, while on PC it will be digital only. Those who buy the game early are also entitled to 'Loyal Dog' and 'Striped Cat' layered armour sets for their Palamute and Palico companions.
