New Mission: Impossible 7 behind the scenes images showcase star Hayley Atwell's costume. Atwell was confirmed for Mission: Impossible 7 & 8 back in September 2019. The two movies are the latest installments in the long-running spy film series, which began in 1996 as an adaptation of the original 1960s popular television series of the same name. The franchise's sixth and latest film, Mission: Impossible — Fallout, was released in 2018 to worldwide critical and box office success, grossing nearly $800 million.
Atwell joins Mission: Impossible 7 as Grace, a mysterious character in which the actress described as an ambiguous figure who goes through a unique personal journey over the course of the two films. She is joined by Ving Rhames and Simon Pegg who return as Ethan Hunt's (Tom Cruise) loyal IMF compatriots, Luther and Benji respectively. Henry Czerny is slated to reprise his role as Eugene Kittridge, a former IMF director, for the first time since the original film. Starting with Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation, the fifth film in the franchise, Christopher McQuarrie took over directorial duties of the spy series and the franchise has since become more narrative cohesive than the first three films. Mission: Impossible 7 continues this trend by bringing back Ilsa Faust (Rebecca Ferguson), an MI-6 agent from both Rogue Nation and Fallout, and filming Mission: Impossible 8 shortly after 7 to tell one story over the course of those two films.
