EA Sports has announced that they will be parting ways with FIFA’s branding in 2023 in order to start “a new era” of soccer games.
Though the company promises that this year’s title will be “the best ever,” they also note that as of July 2023, will be their soccer franchise going forward. The game will have over 300 license partners around the world, and will feature fan-favorite modes like Ultimate Team, Career Mode, Pro Clubs, and Volta Football.
“Our unique licensing portfolio of more than 19,000+ players, 700+ teams, 100+ stadiums and 30 leagues that we’ve continued to invest in for decades will still be there, uniquely in ,” says Cam Weber, EVP, Group GM of EA Sports & Racing. “That includes exclusive partnerships with the Premier League, LaLiga, Bundesliga, Serie A, the MLS – and more to come.”
The first title was released all the way back in 1993, so this move marks the end of a nearly 30-year partnership between EA and FIFA that led to one of gaming’s most profitable sports franchises. Weber says that further information on their plans for the future will arrive in the coming months.
