The Epic Games Store likes to give away mystery games to promote its big sales, and now that the Epic Mega Sale is live, the mystery games are back. The first mystery game that's part of the latest Epic Games Store promotion was first teased last week, and it's now available for users to claim until Thursday, May 26 at 10:00am CT, at which point it will be replaced by whatever next week's mystery game is.
The first free mystery game that's been added as part of the Epic Mega Sale promotion is none other than Borderlands 3. Borderlands 3 is a looter-shooter from Gearbox Software that is certainly one of the higher-profile games given away by the Epic Games Store, despite being a few years old at this point. Anyone that has yet to play Borderlands 3 can claim it completely free of charge right now; all they need is the Epic Games Store launcher.
Epic Games Store Finally Has Library Filters
Those that have been diligent about claiming the Epic Games Store free games every week should now have a nearly-complete collection of Borderlands games in their Epic Games Store libraries. Previously, Borderlands: The Handsome Collection was one of the free Epic Games Store games in May 2020. It includes the critically-acclaimed Borderlands 2 as well as Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel. The only main series Borderlands title Epic Games Store users should be missing at this point is the original Borderlands, but it's not available on the Epic Games Store at the time of this writing. Tales from the Borderlands, the spin-off developed by Telltale Games, is available on the Epic Games Store but hasn't been given away for free yet.
