Milo Ventimiglia has been cast in the lead role of The Company You Keep, a new drama set to air on ABC. The forthcoming series is based on the Korean show My Fellow Citizens, which aired in 2019. The This Is Us and Gilmore Girls starwill play Charlie, a conman who falls in love with an undercover CIA agent.
Per THR, The Company You Keep has received an official pilot order at ABC. In addition to starring, Ventimiglia will also executive produce the series. This new role will mark a significant creative shift for the actor as This Is Us is wrapping up its final season.

The Company You Keepcomes from writer Julia Cohen, who penned the script and will executive produce alongside Ventimiglia, Russ Cundiff, Todd Harthan, Caitlin Foito, Lindsay Goffman, and Jon M. Chu of Crazy Rich Asians fame. The drama is yet another example of Hollywood’s growing interest in Korean content, with Netflix’s upcoming slate of Korean films and seriesperhaps the biggest indication of the market’s influence.
The official synopsis for The Company You Keep reads: “A night of passion leads to love between con-man Charlie (Ventimiglia) and undercover CIA officer Emma, who are unknowingly on a collision course professionally. While Charlie ramps up the ‘family business’ so he can get out for good, Emma’s closing in on the vengeful criminal who holds Charlie’s family debts in-hand — forcing them to reckon with the lies they’ve told so they can save themselves and their families from disastrous consequences.”
