Fresh introduces the audience to Steve, a doctor who works in the obscure “human meat” market and harvests female meat, and unfortunately, his cannibal business is something that could be very real, and here’s how it would work. Although the horror genre has been packed with reboots, remakes, and “requels” in recent years, there are still original stories being released in theaters and streaming platforms, and among the most recent ones is Fresh, a comedy horror movie directed by Mimi Cave and written by Lauryn Kahn.
Fresh follows Noa (Daisy Edgar-Jones), a young woman disillusioned and tired of modern, online dating. One day, she’s approached by Steve (Sebastian Stan) at the supermarket and they exchange numbers. Noa and Steve start dating, and he convinces Noa to go on a weekend break away with him, but that day, Steve decides that they will leave the next morning, so he decides they will spend the night at his luxurious house. Unfortunately, it’s all a trap and once at his house, Steve drugs Noa and reveals he harvests female meat and sells it to unknown, wealthy clients, and Noa is his newest victim. Noa then has to decide if to follow along with Steve’s games or find a way to escape, even if that means losing some body parts.

Steve has made his own business by harvesting and selling female meat to wealthy, male clients, but he sends the meat in carefully curated packages that include some of the victim’s belongings.
