Viewers of the island-themed shows know there is nothing better than watching hungry and sleep-deprived contestants fight through games in order to win a monetary prize. In particular, Survivor has been very hard for any major network to beat. Each season (there have now been 41), castaways are left within their two tribes on a deserted island where they go up against the elements and one another. Most of the island games are a game of strategy, with players hoping to outwit their competition. With the announcement of NBC's Million Dollar Island, viewers are interested in what their format will look like.

NBC revealed the good news in a statement via THR, which read, «We're excited to partner with a powerhouse team to bring this fresh and bold social experiment to NBC.» The network decided to team up with Studio Lambert to produce the new Survivor-like adventure reality show, Million Dollar Island, which is said to be working a title. As the show's title hints, the ultimate prize will be for $1 million. The new series for NBC is said to be a social experiment that will leave 100 contestants on a deserted island for 50 days.
