WARNING: Spoilers forWhat If… Miles Morales… Became Captain America?!
Right after readers got to see Miles Morales if he became Captain America instead of Spider-Man in Marvel's latest What If...? tale, Miles himself got a glimpse of what it would look like if he became Thor. In the final pages of What If...Miles Morales...Became Captain America?!, the titular hero witnesses a lineup of other Miles variants, including an image of himself wielding Mjolnir and acting as the Agardian God of Thunder. Thor is a perfect Avenger for Miles to become, because the young hero already has electric powers and is arguably one of the most «worthy» heroes in all of Marvel.
There is a long history of different characters within the Marvel Universe being proven worthy enough to wield Mjolnir, with some even becoming a version of Thor themselves It is important to acknowledge that Asgardians, and random heroes who pick up Mjolnir, are traditionally portrayed in the comics as appearing blonde and white, and it is far past time that there was a comic featuring a Black hero become associated with the Asgardian mythos and the role of Thor. Of course, it would be better if they would establish a major Black Asgardian in the main Earth-616 continuity, a disappointing trend in Marvel's diversity push, but it is still exciting to see a young Black man take on the mantle of Thor.
