WARNING: Spoilers for What If...? Miles Morales ahead!
It looks like there is a new Avengers team coming, and in the recent What If...? Miles Morales… Became Captain America?! one-shot Marvel Comics teases that the team will consist entirely of multiversal Miles variants, including Miles Thor, Miles Wolverine, and Miles Hulk. While Marvel has not officially announced any crossover issues between the separate What If... one-shots, there is a chance that this will come to pass, and that these variant Miles might even partner with the main Earth-616 Spider-Man.
Miles has operated as Spider-Man in the main continuity since his original Ultimate universe was destroyed in the 2015 «Secret Wars» event, and has become one of Marvel's most popular characters, partially due to the critically acclaimed 2018 animated film Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. Since entering the main Marvel continuity, Miles has been on the Avengers, the Champions, and was a central part of theCivil War II event, often engaging and interacting with Steve Rogers' Captain America. Similarly, the Marvel What If...? comics, which debuted as an «alternate universe anthology» in 1977, has seen a new burst in popularity after the success of the MCU's animated What If...? series, so it is no surprise that Marvel chose Miles to be the new face of the What If...? comics.
