New York may be the city that never sleeps, but a recent Marvel’s Spider-Man glitch has signaled that it might be time for bed by removing nearly all light from the Manhattan skyline. Insomniac’s open-world Spider-Man games have been well-regarded since Marvel’s Spider-Man first launched back in 2018, renowned for their refined combat and web-swinging transversal gameplay, as well as their impressive attention to detail. The open-world sandbox of Marvel’s Spider-Man is filled with Easter eggs and references to other Marvel heroes like the Avengers, while Spidey has unique animations for traveling up fire escapes, and voice actor Yuri Lowenthal even delivers his lines differently if Peter is swinging above the streets of New York or searching for crime from the ground.
However, even the most polished AAA titles will contain strange bugs and glitches, and Marvel’s Spider-Man is no different. While there haven't been as many reported glitches in the original 2018 Spider-Man game as 2020's Spider-Man: Miles Morales, players have reported seeing Dr. Strange’s dimension-crossing portals appear in Marvel’s Spider-Man, as well as suddenly falling into the Sorcerer Supreme’s twisted Mirror Dimension from the MCU movies. One Spider-Man glitch even changed his costume black, a reference to the Symbiotic costume that bonded to Peter before finding a new host in Venom.
