While New York has fallen prey to some pretty dangerous rulers and supervillains such as the King in Black, the city won't be prepared for an evilMiles Morales and the Empire of the Spider. Taking place during Miles and Shift's multiversal adventure to find Miles' Uncle Aaron, new Marvel solicitations have revealed that the New York they'll be returning to has become much darker thanks to Miles' evil clone. Going beyond New York, this new first look spells disaster for the original Spider-Man Peter Parker as well.
In recent issues of Marvel's Miles Morales: Spider-Man, Brooklyn's resident Webslinger has been battling the Assessor, a new villain who captured Miles and experimented on him to create three clones: Selim, Mindspinner, and Shift. While Shift ended up joining Miles as his new brother, Miles had no choice but to battle the darker Selim and Mindspinner. As such, he seemingly destroyed them both when they fought on the Brooklyn Bridge in Miles Morales: Spider-Man #28.

However, it seems as though a version of Selim lives on in the multiverse thanks to the new Marvel solicitations for June posted on CBR. In the upcoming Miles Morales: Spider-Man #39 from Saladin Ahmed and Christopher Allen, Miles and Shift will discover a dark future in the multiverse where Selim takes over New York, having built his own empire where he rules supreme. Not only that, but Miles will have to face his best friend Ganke and grown-up sister Billie Morales who've become leaders of a rebellion.
