Microsoft has announced details on the next Xbox Games Showcase will happen on June 11th, that will be followed by the promised standalone Starfield Direct.
The announcement was made just a day after Arkane’s Redfall was released to negative to mixed reviews. Starfield began trending on Twitter at points for some,thanks to comments regarding the also previously-delayed Redfall’s reviews and pondering over Starfield’s upcoming launch, set for September.
The Xbox Showcase will begin at 10 AM PT/ 1 PM ET / 7 PM CET, and the brief description from the announcement was this:
“Join us for some new surprises and first-looks from our incredibly talented internal studios, and our many creative partners around the world. This is the day gamers have been waiting for to see what is coming to Xbox, PC, and Game Pass.”
With E3’s cancelation this year, following the biggest companies’ decision to not participate but instead hold their own showcase events, this is one of the events we can look forward to in June. Microsoft didn’t detail exactly what we’ll see, but we can likely expect some reveals and updates on its slate of releases.
Keeping Starfield to its own direct makes sense, as it sets some expectations for the main showcase, while still giving an uninterrupted solo spotlight for Bethesda’s first new IP in decades.
The Starfield Direct will follow immediately after this showcase. With a launch date in sight and the team ready to start rolling out more details and previews over the next few months, there’s every reason to think this will be pretty substantial
