The early 200s were a fascinating time to be a Mega Man fan. You had portable games like Mega Man Xtreme, the recent Mega Man Legends games showing something different for the series, and the launch of the GBA brought yet another change with Mega Man Battle Network. These changed the game up by having mega buster and blade usage – but set in a virtual world with characters inspired by prior characters to some degree alongside totally new ones. The side-scrolling grid-based combat is something that was replicated later on with games like Child of Eden.
This collection brings all six games together along with the GBA e-Reader cards and special Boktai cards as well to craft the definitive version of game franchise. Players can enjoy the games in their original forms or with a texture smoothing filter on. Players can also make the adventure easier with the addition of the new buster MAX that allows you to do 100 times your normal level of damage – making it a great way to run through random battles or try to speed through the games.
Online play has been enabled for the games and the collection can be obtained either in split forms with all versions of Mega Man Battle Network 1-3 and 4-6 at $39.99 apiece or one giant collection of all of them for $59.99 – which is the better overall value. Every game in it from three to six has two versions available with different content, so there is a ton to enjoy here and it’s available in both physical form on PS4 and Switch or digital on those platforms as well as PC via Steam.
