As we inch closer to the Season 1 finale of Paramount+'s Halo live-action TV series, things aren't exactly boding well for Master Chief/John-117 (Pablo Schreiber). After learning the truth about his past--that he was kidnapped by Dr. Halsey (Natasha McElhone) as a child and replaced by a short-lived clone--everything he has been trained to put trust in is unraveling. And after removing the chip that controls his emotions, all bets are off.
Now, in an exclusive clip from Episode 8, «Allegiance,» Chief's connection to his own team is put to the test. In the clip, he is attacked by two other Spartans, who explain, «You're not well, Chief. Don't make this harder on yourself.» Though he seems to be on the losing end of this particular fight, he tries to reason with them. «We're on the same side.»
He also claims that «she» has lied to them. What remains to be seen is what «she» he's talking about. Naturally, Halsey seems like the best guess. However, sneaking around in the background of the scene is Makee (Charlie Murphy), the human pretending she was rescued from the Covenant who is actually working with them.
There's so much up in the air right now in the first season of Halo that it's anybody's guess how this is all going to play out. One thing's for sure, though, and that's that the series is still ramping up. As we know, Halo has already been renewed for a second season. So don't expect to get all of your answers in the two remaining episodes of Season 1.
Halo streams Thursdays on Paramount+.
