Ben Brode, the former director of Blizzard’s Hearthstone, has Marvel Snap, a new card game that centers around the Marvel universe and aims to take the current card game format to a whole new level. This will be the first new project from the developer since his departure from the increasingly controversial Blizzard.
Brode left Blizzard in April of 2018 with the intention of starting his own game development company. Together with other ex-Blizzard employees, Brode would reveal the studio, called Second Dinner, later that year. Although the company did not mention much about its first project, Second Dinner would announce in 2019 that the studio was given a $30 million investment to develop a Marvel-themed mobile game. Second Dinner would remain silent for the next couple of years, presumably working on the game until the time was right.

Roughly four years after the company’s inception, Second Dinner has finally announced its first big game coming to mobile devices. PC Gamer reports that Second Dinner’s new game, called Marvel Snap, will be a collectible card battle game centered around the Marvel universe. Like Hearthstone, players will collect cards and build decks to battle other players online. Snap will utilize a new “Snapping” feature that encourages players to raise the stakes in ranked play, giving the game a high-tension aura with every match. Although the game sounds a bit like a generic CCG on the outside, Ben Brode promised Marvel Snap will be something totally different.
