Brian Horton, who was announced as the creative director of publisher Sony Interactive Entertainment and developer Insomniac Games‘ Marvel’s Wolverine in 2021, has been off the project since summer and is now the creative director of publisher Xbox Game Studios and developer The Initiative‘s Perfect Dark, according to a Game File report.
Marvel’s Wolverine is now helmed by creative director Marcus Smith, which a Sony Interactive Entertainment representative confirmed to Game File. Mike Daly will also now serve as game director in place of previous director Cameron Christian, who remains at Insomniac Games, but in a different role.
Marcus Smith was previously a creative director on Marvel’s Spider-Man, Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, and Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. Mike Daly was previously a lead designer on Marvel’s Spider-Man and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, as well as a game director on Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart and Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.
According to Game File’s sources, the changes on the Marvel’s Wolverine development team are the result of creative decisions around the game. The Sony Interactive Entertainment representative who confirmed the new roles declined to comment on the reason for the role changes.
As for Perfect Dark, a Microsoft Gaming representative told Game File that Horton will be “bringing his wealth of experience to the upcoming reboot of the classic secret agent series.”
Marvel’s Wolverine will be available for PlayStation 5. Perfect Dark will be available for Xbox Series and PC. Release dates for both titles have yet to be announced.
