Out of all the many Captain America variants in Marvel's long history, the greatest one by far may be a four-legged version who has an unbreakable bond with his signature weapon. The Avengers Forever event series is building toward a climax, and the heroes require an army of Star-Spangled Men to fight a growing threat. In Avengers Forever #7, Marvel reveals the most unexpected Captain America yet: a dog who hails from a dog-populated planet.
The Avengers Forever series is populated by variants from across the multiverse, and a select few band together to keep the Multiversal Masters of Evil at bay. Tony Stark — the Ant-Man — leads Ghost Rider, Deathlok and other multiversal heroes to find and train new heroes. Five Captain America variants are selected, each vastly different from the next. But while some have very visible powers, others aren't heroes at all — at least, the visible sort.

In Avengers Forever #7, written by Jason Aaron with art by Aaron Kuder, five people all named Steve Rogers find themselves in a jail cell with a massive open door. All are free to leave, but they must pass a test that throws them all back into the cell if they fail — which they do, again and again and again. Eventually, all five Steves manage to run the course and catch a thrown shield (tossed by five other Captain Americas). Included in the group is a comic artist, a Wolverine-Captain America variant, and a dog named Steve Rogers — who dutifully catches his shield with his mouth.
