Marvel's Iron Avengers stepped up to replace the superteam when some of the most important members of the original heroes fell and looked awesome while doing so. In Earth X by Marvel Comics, Tony Stark created an armored superteam replicating the powers of Earth's Mightiest Heroes, including the Wasp, and Scarlet Witch. When the Iron Avengers were called into action, they showcased their amazing looks and costumes throughout the series.
The Iron Avengers first appeared in the Earth X series by Alex Ross, Jim Krueger, John Paul Leon, as the iconic story featured humans across the planet gaining powers after Terrigen Mist is unleashed throughout the world. In a world chock full of superpowered individuals, the Avengers, including Hawkeye, Giant-Man, Quicksilver, and the Scarlet Witch, all died in a battle against the Absorbing Man, leading Tony Stark to build the superteam in their place. The Iron Avengers would try to replace Earth's Mightiest Heroes, while the designs and costumes for each of the armored heroes were incredible.

In the ashes of the Avengers' battle against the Absorbing Man inEarth X by Marvel Comics, Tony Stark turned his attention to creating the Iron Avengers. The superteam was effectively robotic versions of fallen heroes, remixed with the classic looks of Iron Man. Among the new robot superheroes included the Iron Maiden, Crimson Sage (Scarlet Witch), Monolith, Steelbow (Hawkeye), and Swing (The Wasp).
