The Mighty Thor is on her way to straight from another dimension. This video game version of Jane Foster is from a world unseen in any Marvel story so far, which means that her costume is also slightly different from her comics inspiration and her counterpart in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In a dev blog on official website, Crystal Dynamics Art Director Jeff Adams went into what inspired the distinct look of their version of the Asgardian goddess.
Her default look, also known internally as her Iconic Outfit, features an eagle-shaped mask that’s different than the normal full helmet usually associated with the character. This combines with the light-up discs around her armor to match up with Square Enix’s version of Thor. Adams stated that her unique mask was to make her feel warrior-like and fiercer, a contrast to Thor’s regal look.

The other three costumes spotlighted in the post are all inspired by Jane Foster’s various comics appearances as a hero. The Mighty Thor from the comics is an obvious inclusion, as are the threads from Jane’s more recent turn as Valkyrie. The most exciting addition is Thordis, a reference to a 1977 issue of “What If?” that showed what might have happened if Jane Foster had picked up Mjölnir rather than Dr. Donald Blake.
