Mark Wahlberg doesn't want to star in a superhero movie because of the costumes. Originally part of the hip-hop group Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch, Wahlberg transitioned into acting where he found himself involved in a number of high-profile, critically praised projects like Boogie Nights, The Departed, andThe Fighter, to name a few. The actor has also found himself front in center in many high-profile blockbuster franchises like Tim Burton's Planet of the Apes,Transformers: Age of Extinction, and the upcoming film Uncharted.
One genre that Wahlberg has not been a part of is the superhero film. While Wahlberg has not been in a superhero movie, he did lend his voice to the superhero character The Blue Falcon in the 2020 film, Scoob!. However, other than that voice work, Wahlberg has avoided superhero films. Yet, his next few projects see him acting alongside some major superheroes. Uncharted will see Wahlberg opposite Spider-Man star, Tom Holland, and Shang-Chi star, Simu Liu, will co-leadArthur and the King with Wahlberg. With so much overlap with superhero actors, it is likely many will wonder if he is ever going to join a project for Marvel or DC.
