Super Mario Bros Wonder has topped the UK physical software charts for the second week in a row.
Mario’s latest Switch title was released on the same day as Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, and had to take a back seat to the PS5 exclusive during its first weekend, in which Spider-Man 2 “comfortably” took the number 1 slot in the UK.
Last week, however, Super Mario Bros Wonder took over as the UK’s number one physical game, a position it holds again this week according to GfK data (as reported by GamesIndustry.biz).
Spider-Man 2 has dropped to third place following a reported 40% decline in sales week-on-week, meaning EA Sports FC 24 – which had been sitting in third place while Mario and Spider-Man competed – climbs back up to second.
The only new entry in the top ten this week is RoboCop: Rogue City, which makes its UK chart debut at number four.
Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol 1 also saw a dramatic drop down the charts. The game was a new entry at number four last week, but has now dropped to number 30 following an 80% decrease in sales.
As ever, these charts only cover physical sales, so the true UK sales figures for each game – with digital sales taken into account – aren’t known.
VGC’s RoboCop: Rogue City review calls the game “a hugely entertaining return to simpler times”.
“With no pretensions that it’s offering something revolutionary, the game focuses on delivering big dumb action scenes interspersed with entertaining detective work,” we wrote. “It has an engaging story and well-written dialogue, all wrapped in a package that shows clear love for the source material.”
