One fan of Mario Kart 8 creates an entirely new course for the game, which takes inspiration from the seminal Nintendo 64 title, Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. Even with the existence of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe on the Switch, the way was first paved by its original version on the Wii U. Despite being on two different platforms, both games have rather active modding communities, especially through GameBanana. Modders have taken to adding new characters into Mario Kart 8, such as Princess Zelda, Minecraft's Steve, and even Metroid's Samus Aran.
It's also no surprise to see that modders have added a variety of new racetracks and courses to go through as well. This includes racetracks that are backported from past Mario Kart games, including the ones that were released as a part of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe's Booster Course Pass, like Tokyo Blur from Mario Kart Tour. Modders have also taken the liberty to create entirely brand-new courses that weren't from a past game, such as RiazorMC, who made a custom track based on the classic Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.

This track was shown off in a video by RiazorMC, where they demonstrated what was included in this Mario Kart 8 custom track. It had famous landmarks and locations of the game, which were ripped straight from Ocarina of Time's 3DS remake.
