2K surprised fans at the end of Gamescom’s Opening Night Live by revealing the, a new entry in the fan-favorite action-adventure series.
The trailer doesn’t show off much about the game, but does tease being set in Italy. In the trailer, we’re treated to some cryptic dialogue before being shown the setting of 1900s Sicily, where the game will take place.

“Uncover the origins of organized crime in Mafia: The Old Country, a gritty mob story set in the brutal underworld of 1900s Sicily,” reads the game’s description.
The Mafia series began in 2002 with the original game’s release, and has featured a ton of games throughout its history. In the mainline series, the most recent entry was 2016’s Mafia III. However, a remake of the original game, dubbed the “Definitive Edition,” released in 2020. Various story expansions have also been released throughout the series.
Each Mafia game is set in various fictional locations modeled after real-world American cities, and typically take place in the past. The games often see players become involved with the Mafia in some form, either attempting to rise through the ranks or take down the entire mob.
