A preview for Marvel's Darth Vader series proves that Luke Skywalker's most important moment in Return of the Jedi is being weakened by new canon. Taking place after the events of Empire Strikes Back, Darth Vader has been faced with a ghost from his past in the form of Sabé, the former handmaid and decoy of his late wife Padmé Amidala. Not only does she now know his past as Anakin Skywalker, but she's also motivating Vader to take a path towards redemption long before Luke would try to redeem his father.
Previously in Darth Vader from Greg Pak and Raffaele Ienco, Lord Vader has been rooting out agents of Crimson Dawn who've embedded themselves on every level of the Empire. Seeking order, the Dark Lord has been relentless in his quest and is seemingly resigned to his role as the Emperor's fist after Palpatine recently revealed his true power and plans on the hidden world of Exegol. This was motivated by Vader's unbalance in the dark side after looking into his wife's death and the birth of his son Luke. During his investigation, Vader discovered a partial holo-recording of Padmé's last words and her belief that there was still good in him despite his corruption to the dark side.

While Darth Vader's search for answers was his first encounter with Sabé, she's been pretty busy after Vader spared her life. Not only did she join Crimson Dawn, but she also found the same holo-message which allowed her to deduce the truth that Anakin Skywalker and Darth Vader are one and the same.
