Sony seems to be continuing its trend of blocking certain regions from being able to buy the PC versions of its titles. Following up from Horizon Forbidden West, the upcoming Lost Soul Aside will also seemingly not be available in regions where there is no support for PlayStation Network.
Caught by ResetEra user Jamrock User, Lost Soul Aside‘s SteamDB page indicates that the game will not be available in 130 countries. In keeping up with this, players from other regions will also not be able to buy and gift the title to players from one of the countries where the game will not be available.
The move follows a similar one that we last saw for Horizon Forbidden West Complete Edition which, despite being available on Steam and not requiring a PSN account to play, has just not been made available in certain countries. In the past, Helldivers 2 has also been taken down from stores in certain regions, following a controversial move that made a PSN account mandatory.
Ultimately, Sony has backtracked on needing PSN accounts for the PC versions of its games. This seems to have come at a deep cost for several players that happen to live in one of the countries that the company has blocked from buying its games, however. Lost Soul Aside was similarly expected to require a PSN account, even for its PC release. Since then, however, Sony has backtracked on this decision as well.
Lost Soul Aside got a trailer earlier this month, revealing that it will be coming to PC and PS5 on May 30. Those that aren’t in one of the 130 countries where the game is being blocked can also pre-order the title through the appropriate digital store. Check out details of its digital deluxe edition.
