This was confirmed by the TT Games Twitter account, responding to a tweet from an interview in 2019 between TT Games designer Mike Consalvey and HipHopGamer. In the interview, Consalvey seems to confirm that character customization will be in LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, but the TT Games Twitter clarified that plans changed during development. Sometime between the 2019 interview and now, the decision was made to cut character customization, though an exact reason why wasn't provided by the LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga developers.
