A recreation of how Legend of Zelda would look in the classic pixel art look of NES Castlevania games has surfaced on Twitter. Both Legend of Zelda and Castlevania had their start in the year 1986 for the NES. Due to the graphical limitations of the time, the graphics for both games were heavily pixelated, and this art style has remained a recognizable mainstay over the years.
The similarities between Zelda and Castlevania don't end there, as both are set in fantasy worlds where the protagonist must use a variety of weapons to fight through an army of evil monsters to achieve their goal. The key difference between the two, however, is that Castlevaniarelies on traditions from the horror genre, while Legend of Zelda is a more light-hearted adventure. The creatures of Castlevania were inspired by classic horror, with recognizable monsters such as zombies, dragons, and, of course, the main antagonist Dracula. Meanwhile, the adventures of Zelda were inspired by the real childhood adventures of Shigeru Miyamoto, presenting a brighter and more innocent atmosphere.

Twitter artist Atticus_Finn created a pixel rendering of Legend of Zelda and how the series would look in a Castlevania-inspired setting. The image depicts Link wielding a sword and shield alongside his fairy companion Navi, looking ready to enter a castle in the middle of the night. The dark forest and crumbling ruins all around Link create a foreboding atmosphere, reminiscent of the feeling a player might get before entering a dungeon. It appears to be the perfect pairing, combining the instantly recognizable green outfit and blue fairy with the dark and gloomy color palette and setting of Castlevania.
