Legacies season 4 has a massive cast to keep up with. Despite this fact, though, Legacies is repeating its earlier season mistake by focusing mostly on Hope Mikaelson at the expense of everyone else.
While Hope went from being the heroine of Legacies seasons 1—3 to the worst Vampire Diaries franchise villain since Klaus, her colleagues in the Salvatore School for the Young and Gifted have been less fortunate in terms of plot focus. From Jed to Kaleb to Cleo, many supporting stars have gotten the short shrift in Legacies season 4. The show even seemed to acknowledge this in one episode, although the Legacies line may not have been intended as a nod to fan frustration with the lack of compelling subplots for supporting stars.

In “Was This the Monster You Saw” (season 4, episode 13), Kaleb tells Cleo, "Things are going to get better, for all of us." His attempts to reassure Cleo had one meaning in the episode’s story, but the line also packed a meta-textual meaning for viewers frustrated by Legacies reviving Landon again and continuing to focus on him and Hope’s plot over everyone else. In context, the comment can be read as Kaleb saying that his, Cleo’s, and everyone else’s stories will get better, a meta-reference to how Legacies has failed a lot of its supporting characters by sidelining them or not seeming to know where to go with their stories or development.
