Bloober Team’s drop-dead gorgeous – but still frighteningly morbid – remake-cum-reimagining-cum-remaster-cum-sequel Layers of Fear has committed to canvas a 15th June release date. The Unreal Engine 5 powered horror opus repaints the entire series, pairing the original game and its sequel as well as any post-release DLC with new story content that makes for a complete, uninterrupted narrative.
“With the power of Unreal Engine 5, we’ve been able to create a game that visually surpasses our previous works, delivering an unforgettable journey into the minds of tormented artists,” exclaimed the studio’s CEO Piotr Babieno in a press release. “We are excited for both new and returning players to jump in.”
A demo is available now on Steam which will be active through 22nd May, although there are no plans to release this on the PS5 right now. That’s unfortunate, because it would have been fun to see some of the release’s visual innovations first-hand. Unfortunately, we’ll just have to wait until release day next month for our first taste of the title’s cutting-edge presentation on PlayStation.

“…remake-cum-reimagining-cum-remaster-cum-sequel”.
It is what is.
